Wild Weekend Wrap Up January 19-21





Delta Wild Female Varsity

SWFV played First Show Case at home this season which had them play 6 games in 4 days!

Overall the improvement in strength, effort, speed, and intensity of the FV team during this showcase was evident grabbing 9 out of 12 possible points.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1)

Grace Elliott scored a pair of goals pacing the way for the Delta Hockey Academy to defeat the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy 3-1. Taylor Billingsley  made 35-of-36 saves for Delta. Jesse Kask also had a single goal in this one.

Two goals and one helper off the stick of Grace Elliott led the way for the Delta Hockey Academy to clinch the 4-0 win over the Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy. Taylor Billingsley registered her second shutout win of the season, while Melody Pilchak and Emma Killman each finished the game with one goal and one assist for Delta.

Emma Lee had two goals, and once assist for Delta, while Tova Henderson factored in on two goals, and a single goal by Jade Ridgewell. Janaka Shahi in net

Emma Lee scored the overtime winner 1:06 into the period confirming the 2-1 victory for the Delta Hockey Academy over the Okanagan Hockey Academy. Grace Elliott’s goal forced the overtime period for Delta. Taylor Billingsley in net

DWMV played 2 exhibition games vs Everett jr Silver Tips 16U this weekend winning 6-0 on Saturday and 3-0 Sunday.

Delta Wild Bantam Prep Green

DWBPG finished 4th at the Prestigious John Reid Memorial Tournament held in St.Albert. The tournament showcases the top teams in Western Canada and United States. Delta started the tournament off with a big 3 to 1 win over a tough Lethbridge team. Cole Savage gets the win in net.  Game 2 saw a rematch against the Calgary Bisons from the Chilliiwack tournament. Delta came out strong and controlled the game cruising to a 5 to 2 win. Saahil Mann got the win. Game 3 was a tough battle for first in the round robin play versus OHA Edmonton. OHA came out strong in the first period leading 2 to 0 after the first period. Delta would battle back but come up short losing 3 to 2. Delta would lock themselves into the Quarter finals again with a rematch against the St.Georges Academy. The game would end up in a 4 to 2 win for the Wild and put themselves in the Semi-finals. The semi-finals  game against the LA JR Kings a team Delta lost to at the NCWAA tournament in November at the semi finals. Again Delta would come up short losing a tough game 4 to 2 with Delta outshooting them 43-34. Some individual awards from the tournament saw 2 delta players receive All-star awards. Defence man Matt Smith and goalie Cole Savage were picked to the All-star. team.

Delta Wild Midget Prep U18

DWMPU18  Sweep Pacific Coast in Weekend Doubleheader

DWMPU19 vs Pacific Coast this weekend winning Saturday 4-3 and Sunday 5-4 in Overtime.

On Saturday, Delta raced out a 4-1 first period lead with goals from Payton Mount, Cole Shepard with two goals and John Evans scoring the 4th goal.  Delta held on after a late push from Pacific Coast in the third period.  Dylan Garand got the win in goal.

On Sunday, Delta had a strong first 40 minutes and held a 3-2 lead after 2 periods. Delta scored an early power play goal to go up 4-2 early in the third period.  Pacific Coast managed two in the third period to take the game into overtime.  Ben Ward was the hero with the winning goal off a faceoff play in overtime. Ben Ward scored 2 goals in the game, with singles going to Ty Brant, John Evans and Payton Mount. Geo Wilson got the win in goal.

Next Up Midget Preps have next weekend off before hosting a CSSHL showcase the following weekend Feb 2-4
